We may collect information that you provide directly, information collected automatically when you access or use the Site, and information made available by service providers in connection with the operation of the Site. The categories of information collected may include:
- Device and technical information, such as Internet Protocol address, browser type, operating system, device characteristics, language, general location, identifiers, and related diagnostic information;
- Usage information, such as referring and exit pages, pages and content viewed, access times, navigation paths, clicks, scrolling, interactions, and other information concerning use of the Site;
- Cookie and similar-technology information, including identifiers and information stored or accessed through cookies, local storage, software development kits, and comparable technologies; and
- Communications, including the contents of inquiries and associated contact information if you elect to contact us.
The Site uses PostHog for analytics and related measurement. These services may use cookies or similar technologies and may include session-replay functionality that reconstructs interactions with the Site. Information entered into form fields is masked from session recordings. The Site does not currently maintain user accounts or connect analytics identifiers with an identified user profile.
3. How we use information
We may use information collected through or in connection with the Site to:
- provide, operate, maintain, and secure the Site;
- measure and analyze traffic, engagement, performance, and usage trends;
- develop, test, and improve content, functionality, and user experience;
- detect, investigate, and prevent errors, misuse, fraud, or security incidents;
- respond to inquiries and administer our relationship with Site users;
- establish, exercise, or defend legal rights; and
- comply with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
To the extent a legal basis is required, processing is undertaken as necessary for our legitimate interests in operating, protecting, evaluating, and improving the Site; to comply with legal obligations; to protect legal rights; or on another basis permitted by applicable law.
4. Cookies and similar technologies
We and our service providers may use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies to operate the Site, recognize browsers or devices, maintain preferences and identifiers, collect usage and performance information, conduct analytics, and support the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. Some technologies remain only for a browsing session, while others persist for a period determined by their purpose or configuration.
Most browsers permit users to block, restrict, or delete cookies and local-storage data. Browser controls vary, and restricting these technologies may affect the availability or operation of certain Site functionality. Deleting browser data does not necessarily delete information previously transmitted to us or our service providers.
5. Disclosure of information
We may disclose information to vendors, contractors, and other service providers that perform services on our behalf, including providers of hosting, infrastructure, analytics, diagnostics, security, and related technical services. Current providers include PostHog and Vercel. Such providers process information subject to their applicable terms, contractual obligations, and privacy practices.
Information may also be disclosed where reasonably necessary to comply with law, legal process, or governmental requests; enforce applicable terms; investigate or prevent harmful conduct; protect rights, safety, or property; or in connection with a merger, financing, reorganization, sale, transfer, or similar transaction involving the Site.
We do not sell personal information for monetary consideration. Links to third-party websites and services are governed by the privacy practices of those third parties.
6. International processing
We and our service providers may process information in jurisdictions other than the jurisdiction in which it was collected or in which you reside. Where required by applicable law, appropriate safeguards are used in connection with transfers of personal information, which may include contractual protections or other recognized transfer mechanisms.
7. Data retention
Information is retained for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, taking into account the nature and sensitivity of the information, operational requirements, configured service-provider retention periods, applicable limitation periods, legal obligations, and the need to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims. Information may be aggregated, de-identified, or deleted when it is no longer required.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical measures designed to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure. No transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure, and we cannot warrant the absolute security of information processed in connection with the Site.
9. Your rights and choices
Subject to applicable law and relevant exceptions, you may have rights concerning your personal information, including rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or portability, and to object to or withdraw from certain processing. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with an applicable data-protection or privacy authority.
Requests may be submitted using the contact information below. We may request information reasonably necessary to verify a request or locate responsive records. Because the Site does not maintain user accounts and generally relies on browser or device identifiers, our ability to associate information with a particular individual may be limited.
10. Children's privacy
The Site is intended for adults and is not directed to persons under 18. If we learn that personal information relating to a child has been collected in circumstances requiring deletion, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
11. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any revised version will be posted on this page with an updated revision date and will become effective when posted unless otherwise stated. Your continued use of the Site following a revision is subject to the then-current Privacy Policy.
12. Controller and contact information
The technical operation of the Site and the processing of personal information described in this Privacy Policy are administered by Olof Harrysson, who acts as the data controller for such processing. Further information about the controller is available at madebyolof.com.
